Pablo García-Berdoy

A diplomat since 1987, he has had various responsibilities within the Secretary of State for the European Union, including Counselor for relations with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Chief of Staff to the Secretary of State. He was Counselor for European affairs at the Spanish embassy in Bonn, member of the Presidency of the think tank on the future of Europe and prominent Counselor in the European department of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has been Director General for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of Spain in Romania and Moldova. In 2010 he launched the Aspen Institute in Spain, of which he was its first general secretary. From 2012 to 2016 he was Ambassador of Spain in Germany and Ambassador Permanent Representative to the European Union (REPER) from 2016 to 2021.
